On Second Thought

If I wasn’t your first thought

Don’t even make me the last

Don’t give me a second thought

Attempting to live out some past

Fantasy of old

Days gone by if you will

Hoping to get your kicks in

Hoping to get some kinda thrill

For the moment

While you have some time

I guess cause you’re bored now

Still got my picture on your mind

Yes, I know I’m beautiful

I’ve known for quite some time now

And no I am not arrogant

I just know that I’m fine now

With my identity

Cause I know to whom I belong

Redeemed by His Christ

Who had never done wrong

But He gave His life for me

A sacrifice through and through

For He is the way, the life

And He alone is the true

And living God

Who came to earth in a suit

Interceded on my behalf

Leaving me with the fruit

Of His love

Which is salvation and peace

No, I’ll pass on your offer

You can have No piece of me

  1. When life throws its best shot, we respond with knowledge of our identity and knowing whose we are.

‘See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.’
    1 John 3:1 NLT

    We can’t settle for less.
Feels great reading your poems, again.
