I wonder would we understand
Each other if we didn’t have words
I mean would you comprehend me
Would I really be heard
Without intonations or
Cultural vernacular
Colloquial expressions
Not even coming at cha
Would we know what is meant
Without words being spent
To describe the high
When tides roll by
Like words

Without words, there is nothing but the extreme. Screams, cries and laughs, no middle.

But you can feel them though. Unspoken yet expressed.

Very true Dorothy

I see your point too though. Those screams/cries/laughters would have to be interpreted and or translated appropriately by both sender and recipient.

I suppose we could act it out like in a game of Charade.

Yes. Our body language does that pretty well I suppose.

Without words, how could we share such wonderful poetry that we write. The world would feel so empty and dark.

There are other forms of expressions. We’d find a way to get our message across for sure.

We could even then understand each other through facial expression, and emotions expressed through eyes.

That is true too. I hadn’t thought of that. Very good Sadje.

Hmmm….Adds more meaning and depth to “actions speak louder than words”

You’re exactly right.
I have a saying, “Words are the lowest form of communication.”
Thanks for stopping by.

When a friend of mine and I would often dialogue about ministry, he would often times share a quote by St. Francis of Assisi that says, “Preach the Gospel at all times. When necessary, use words.” This poem is very thought provoking on many levels! Thanks Dorothy!

The mere mention of St. Francis in this comment, makes me feel smart…er.

LOL! It still amazes me at the things the Lord gives me to write, and following Him is full of pinch yourself moments! …Anthony..

Love this Dorothy! I think the eyes can speak volumes…as well as holding another’s hands. Therein lies the truth, I believe.
Hope you have a wonderful Saturday!
