The only reason we lie
Is because of vanity and pride

So many times we often try
To hide what’s down inside

We cry for acceptance
Approval and such
Seeking affirmation
And so much

Needed attention
Much love I should say
For we often feel neglected
Overlooked from day to day

It’s our way
Of preserving ourselves
Putting our hearts
Up on shelves

Instead of telling
The truth
Since we’ve learned from
Our youth

It’s hard to call truce,
To get reintroduced

To truth
