Ode to the Men

Today is International Mens Day. Men are recognized every year on November 19th. My hats off to the men who make our worlds go round from day to day. You are appreciated, honored and most of all respected.

We don’t say it or show it as much as we should, but know that you are loved. I just want to express

To all of the men who
Roll up their sleeves
Take out the garbage
And rake up the leaves

Who pay for breakfast, lunch
And dinner too
Today I am grateful
For all that you do

You wash our cars
Clean them inside and out
You grill the kabobs, chicken
Oh and those ribs, no doubt

You lift our heavy bags
Warm the car when it’s cold
You do so many little things
Too much to be told

In this short blank space
This screen cannot contain
All your value and worth on
This International Mens Day

For every cruel injustice, character assassinating, disrespectful, emasculating, belittling comment you have ever had to take in, I offer my sincerest apologies. Happy International Mens day. You are a treasured gift.
